Foodie Friday

You are cordially invited
to participate
in a weekly potluck party
"Foodie Friday"
hosted every Friday
at Rattlebridge Farm.

Foodie Friday
will celebrate its 4th year anniversary
on April 11 - 12, 2013!

Foodie Friday Linky Party Guidelines:

**Be a friend of Rattlebridge in some capacity (blog friend/follower, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, Google+)

**You may add as many recipes/posts as you wish to Foodie Friday. Older/seasonal posts are always welcome.

**Visit at least three other Foodie Friday participants and leave comments. We're a social group, and we love to talk about our favorite subject: food.

**Let me know that you're participating in Foodie Friday by leaving a comment--this is a good place to describe your recipe in luscious detail, as the thumbnails don't allow room for description.

**If this is your first time to participate in Foodie Friday, please leave a comment and introduce yourself.

** Your post must include a link back (or "backlink") to Foodie Friday.

** By adding your link to Foodie Friday, you are granting Rattlebridge Farm permission to include a photo of your FF recipe (and a link to your blog post) to the "Recipe of the Week" feature. Additionally,
we will select a few random FF recipes every week to spotlight on Rattlebridge's Facebook page, and we'll Tweet about and "Pin" your recipe, too, leaving a link to your blog. A backlink to Rattlebridge/Foodie Friday is mandatory to be selected for a spotlight feature.

** If you love gorgeous food photography, you might want to visit the "Consuming Passions" group board at Pinterest, which can be found HERE.

** If you are visiting from Pinterest, you are always welcome to pin Rattlebridge's photographs. On Foodie Fridays, please do not pin from Inlinkz's thumbnails. To  prevent copyright violation, go to the source blog to pin and credit the bloggers/photographers for their work. As a courtesy, you might want to leave them a comment.

**Bandwidth and I check every link. If you haven't received our comments, make sure you have added a backlink to Rattlebridge.

How to Link to Foodie Friday

1. Look for the Inlinkz icon (a blue frog) at the bottom of the Foodie Friday post. Click on the icon.

2. A form will pop up, asking for information.

3. First, add your URL (this is the permalink to your blog post, not the main link to your blog. For example, the main link to a blog might be http://www.foodfiend.blogsplatter.com. The permalink address would include the unique address for a blog post, and it is much longer than a regular URL. Example of a permalink: http://www.foodfriend.blogsplatter.com/2013/04/foodie-fiendfollies-april-5th.html . Don't put the address to my blog in this section or visitors will be routed back to my blog, and we want them to visit you. Your permalink will make sure visitors find your post--sometimes visitors will look at old FF posts, months or years after the Foodie Friday event.

4. The second line in the Inlinkz form will ask for your name. You can add your blog's name, the title of your recipe, or a "headline" to entice visitors to check out your post.

5. The third line in the Inlinkz form will ask for your email. Don't worry--no one will see it, nor will it be shared.

5. After entering your information, Inlinkz will ask you to select an image for the thumbnail. A crop tool is available. Choose an image.

6. After you submit your link, it may take a few moments for your thumbnail to appear.
It will show up if you have 1.) added a permalink to your blog post and 2.) added a backlink from your blog to mine.

Foodie Friday Button:
The Easy Way to Link Up

A simple way to add a backlink is to add a FF button to your post. The button is located on Rattlebridge Farm's right-handed sidebar and can be added to your post.

If this is your first time to add a button, follow these directions: Copy the HTML code that's beneath the button. Return to your blog post and paste the code (if you're using Blogger, click on the HTML toggle button, add the link, then return to "Compose"). The button will provide a quick backlink from your blog to Rattlebridge, and you won't have to add a text link. (See Foodie Friday's Easy Linky button, below.)

Alternately, you can type a text link (designsbygollum.blogspot) somewhere in your post.

** If you add a Foodie Friday link to your post and still have issues adding your link, please visit http://support.inlinkz.com and the Inlinkz help team will be happy to walk you through the process.

Foodie Friday Q and A's

Q: What IS "Foodie Friday," exactly?

A: Four years ago, I started Foodie Friday, a weekly virtual cookbook to showcase great recipes in our blogging community. Now, the event is hosted by two die-hard foodies: Michael Lee West and (to be announced).

Q: What type of recipe should I make for the cookbook?

A: Appetizers, entrees, soups, salads, bread, desserts, and everything in between. You can blog about a single cupcake, store-bought food, picnics, a restaurant, a cookbook or product review, kitchen gadgets, dishes, foodie memoirs, cookbooks... or a whole meal. Tablescapes are welcome if they contain at least one cookie or a cupcake.

Q: Must my food be homemade?
A: That's up to you!

Q: Can I use pictures of food that I've posted previously on my blog or that I've linked to other food blogs?

A:Of course. Just add a backlink from your post to FF, so Inlinkz will allow you to link up.
. You will need to enter the permalink (see below) to each of your blog posts, too.

Q: Do I have to prepare a new dish every week or can I use an older post?

A: Older posts are always welcome.

Q: I don't have time to visit every link at the party.
A: Everyone understands that life can be super busy. But please visit at least three other participants.

Q: What if I have a question that your Q and As haven't covered?

A: If you have questions, email me at designsbygollum@gmail.com. I write full-time for two publishers, and sometimes my email gets away from me. If you'll put an ALL CAPS note in the header of your email (URGENT Foodie Friday Question or 2nd Request, etc) I'll know you need an immediate response.

Q: Does Foodie Friday have a "best of Foodie Friday," showcasing the talented bloggers who contribute to Foodie Friday?

A: Yes! Our Pick of the Week feature spotlights an outstanding Foodie Friday contribution from the previous linky party.  We've created a badge to honor their outstanding work. If you'd like to add it to your press kit or portfolio, look for this button on the sidebar and copy the HTML code.

Every Thursday night, we will also spotlight random recipes and blogs and give them shout-outs on Rattlebridge's Facebook page, Twitter, and/or Pinterest.

Foodie Friday also has a Flickr photography gallery. Everyone is welcome to add photos. Be sure to add a link to your blog so visitors can find you. There are two galleries--one for food and one for home decor. You can visit the food gallery HERE.

Whether you are a beginning cook or a seasoned chef, you will be embraced by Foodie Friday's big-hearted community. Foodie Friday is not about the perfect result--it's about the journey. Have fun! You might want to bring a snack with you, because Foodie Friday recipes will make you very hungry!
Happy Recipe Hunting,
All best,
Michael and _____.
